L’Opera

Delhi-based French patisserie and bakery chain, L’Opera, which is celebrating 10 years of operations, the premium French bakery is now looking to tap new markets. L’Opéra which is today the reference brand of patisserie and bakery and Salon de Thé in Delhi NCR and Dehradun is destined in future to extend its presence to other major Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in India. While it was originally planned for L’Opéra to extend its presence to Mumbai, Chennai and a couple of other cities in 2020, but the Covid crisis lead to a hold on all expansion plans. In the meantime, the group has restarted its expansion with the initial two outlets planned to open in Gurgaon within the next 60 days. These will be followed by others in due course,
informed Kazem Samandari, Executive Chairman, L’Opéra.

“Every week we receive requests from different cities to accelerate our expansion plans. Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata and why not Kashmir remain on the top of our list,” said Samandari.

“The French patisserie which was largely confined to the pastry shops of
Five-Star hotels have found its way to the high street and is no more confined to an elite clientele. Whereas 10 years ago L’Opéra was the pioneer and innovator, today a dozen or more brands, including some international names, have followed L’Opéra’s lead and entered this market space which is among one of the fastest growing in the F&B industry. There is no doubt that the benchmark set by L’Opéra in terms of authenticity, quality and excellence has been and continues to be emulated by other brands and the fact that over the last decade L’Opéra has trained over 600 individuals in the different positions of the patisserie and bakery operations has had a major role in its development,” added Samandari.
