DY Patil Department of Hospitality and Tourism Studies, Mumbai celebrated Word Bread Day on October 16. Present on display were breads from 20 different countries, all created by students. Speaking on the occasion of World Bread Day, Chef Siraj M Shaikh, Associate Professor (Bakery and Patisserie), “the attempt was to have students of hospitality display their talent in making bread presentations. Students had to create a variety of worldwide breads from around 20 countries as part of their curriculum. They also had an opportunity to do live demonstration on making breads and baking cakes and cookies. These sessions were of specific interest to housewives from the city who was specially invited to witness the excellent bakemanship by students. We even invited children with special needs. The idea was to inspire and spread awareness about bread and the various ways it is made world over”.
