Boulangeries Paul, known for the uniform taste of its freshly baked items across the world, has opened shop in Haryana, reports Manoj John
Paul, the renowned bakery/café from France, has entered the Indian market in a move that may further revolutionise the food service industry. Boulangeries Paul SAS recently opened its outlet in Gurugram, Haryana. Paul operates more than 449 bakery and pastry shops across four continents. Executive chef Lokesh Jaiswal has crafted some of the finest European dishes for the Indian customers at the large French-bistro style cafe. Within days of its inauguration, French Onion Soup with Campagne bread, Tomato & Mozzarella sandwich with True Olive Bread, Smoked Salmon Bites with Whole Grain Mustard, Buffalina Pizza, Pepperoni Pizza and Roast Chicken have already becoming popular, attracting food critics’ attention.
Desserts comprise masterpieces such as Tiramisu & Strawberry Mille Feuille and Hot Chocolate. Fleur de Lys, Chocolate Moelleux and Molten Choco Fondant served with vanilla ice cream are some of the other signature desserts.
The café, located on the ground floor of Gurugram’s Ambience Mall, has a seating capacity of 100 people. Paul currently offers a full-service French bistro menu at prices affordable for the Indian customers. A few expensive items, such as Pork Ribs, are an exception as other dishes are moderately priced.
Paul is internationally renowned for more than 140 types of deliciously baked breads. It specialises in French products such as breads, crêpes, sandwiches, macarons, soups, cakes, pastries, coffee, wine, and beer. Millefeuille, patisseries, macarons and viennoiseries, and a wide array of main course dishes are the other worldwide hits.
Paul adheres to strict recipes to ensure that all their bread is fresh and has the same taste across the world. There are several varieties of pizza at Paul. Margherita and Bufalina containes cheese made with buffalo milk, perfectly gelling with the Indian palate.
The company employs 10,000 people worldwide. The café chain was founded in 1889 in the town of Croix by Charlemagne Mayot. The chain is owned by Groupe Holder, which also has the French luxury bakery Ladurée in its portfolio. The Holder family took over the bakery in 1953 and decided to keep the name while expanding the business.
Paul serves breakfast at its Gurugram outlet unlike many traditional Indian cafes. The recipe of Smoked Salmon Bites, served with cream cheese and French mustard, comes straight from France.
